Throughout Johnson County, walking trails, parks and many recreational activities are awaiting your journey. Listed to the left you will find a geographical listing of the parks as well as information for golfing, fishing, and other outdoor activities. Find a park, picnic spot, walking trail, camping site, or fishing in the area to begin your journey. Be sure to visit two specialty parks within the Johnson County Parks Department as well: Independence Park is Indiana's First All-Accessible Playground Area. This 13.5 acre park is accessbile for persons with any disabilities. This park could not have been possible without the help of over 200 businesses, civic organizations, and community members. - Johnson County Park and Hoosier Horse Park is home to many events and vistors. The Johnson County Park has 15 outdoor shelters for group and family use. They have over 50 campsites for the outdoorsmen in everyone. As you journey through this Park you can find playground areas, a beach, basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, horseshoe-pitching areas, Indoor Horseshow Arena, Whispering Pines Golf Course, Radio Control Flying Field, and an outdoor ampitheater. You can also find birds and animals in their natural habitat while hiking on one of the trails throughout the park.
